Why you should open a SharedImpact account

1. It’s easy. It takes less than 2 minutes to complete the online application. Then you can start deploying your money into social investments or recommend specific grants to charitable organisations.

2. It’s tax efficient. SharedImpact reclaims all UK GiftAid for you, and is both UK and US tax-deductible, depending on your tax jurisdiction. There is no paperwork for you to worry about.

3. It’s convenient. Once your SharedImpact Account is set up, you can monitor all your donations and investments in one convenient, online account - anytime, anywhere.

4. It’s like having your own foundation. A SharedImpact Account gives you all the benefits and power of your own foundation - without the hassle and expense of hiring your own foundation staff.

5. It’s family-friendly. A SharedImpact Account allows you to strategise with spouses, siblings, children, or grandchildren to establish your family legacy.

6. It’s income tax-free. No tax on investment income here - a benefit of SharedImpact’s registered charitable status.

7. It’s capital gains tax-free. No tax on capital gains here - another benefit of SharedImpact’s registered charitable status.

8. It’s stamp duty-free. No tax on the purchase of chargeable securities here - yet another benefit of SharedImpact’s registered charitable status.

9. It’s a first-class service. By becoming a SharedImpact Account-holder, you have access to the expertise of our staff in supporting your philanthropic strategy.

10. It’s peace of mind. Best of all, when you use your SharedImpact Account, you can be assured that all the organisations you support, and the investments that are presented to you, meet our stringent requirements for social impact.

Which accounts is right for me?

We have made finding the right account – Silver, Gold or Platinum – very straightforward:

For most people the right account will be a Platinum Account.

  1. Is your initial deposit £1,000 / $1,500 or more?  If the answer is yes then all roads lead to the Platinum account.  No restrictions.  You can support any charitable cause, in any country, for any amount, in any currency, at any time.  Really, you can’t get any better than that.

  2. Are you only looking to support a cause within the SharedImpact Social Enterprise portfolio?  We currently have around 80 projects in over 100 countries so there is lots to choose from.  If your answer is yes then the Silver account is what you are looking for.

  3. Is your initial deposit less than a £1,000 / $1,500 and you want to support charitable causes that are not part of the SharedImpact Social Enterprise portfolio (ie you have your own in mind or don’t want to be constrained).  Then the Gold account is the right solution for you.

Can I change my mind and switch to a different Account type?

Of course you can.  At SharedImpact we don’t believe in creating limits.  If you start off with a Silver account for example  and then discover that you would like to support a charitable cause that is not part of the SharedImpact portfolio, then just send us an email to membership@sharedimpact.org and we will make the change.  Transfer fees may apply.
