Knowaste
Equity - Transferable Shares
Knowaste recycles Absorbent Hygiene Products ("AHP" - i.e. disposable nappies/diapers, incontinence and feminine hygiene products) via a process which recovers high quality plastics and fibres.
Knowaste was started in the US in 1989 and to date has built a number of pilot and full-scale AHP recycling plants in North America and the Netherlands.
It has already built a first phase 'development plant' for AHP recycling in West Bromwich, which has been used to prove the concept and test the market for recycled products. Over a 2 year period (2011-13) this plant processed over 21,000 tonnes of AHP including 117 million nappies, which would otherwise have been incinerated or gone into landfill.
Knowaste has also participated in zero waste pilot schemes with local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales, which have demonstrated the viability of kerbside segregation and collection of AHP waste.
Knowaste is now looking to establish a new AHP recycling facility on a site in the West London area, which will be capable of handling 40,000 tonnes of AHP waste annually.
