The Ella Foundation

The Ella Foundation
Grant

A British charity promoting the efficiency and effectiveness of the charity and social enterprise sector by providing education, leadership training and coaching to their management

The Ella Foundation has been created to inspire more leaders in the charity sector to be effective and successful. This is done by using the tried and tested processes and resources that have successfully enabled over 2000 businesses to achieve amazing results over the last 16 years led by Brian Chernett, the Founder of The Academy for Chief Executives Limited.

Summary

To provide development capital to The Ella Foundation so that it can launch new products and services, including hiring experienced facilitators and mentors for its leadership training programmes. The objective of these programmes is to provide charity leaders with access to impartial advice, peer group learning and personal development in a way which is relevant and timely. Ella currently has 47 charities in its membership network.

Social Impact

Running a charity can be a lonely, heart-wrenching experience - and often staff and trustees have no one they can turn to for impartial advice in a safe, discreet environment. Ella provides such an environment where charity leaders can:

  • learn from non-competing peers
  • listen to expert speakers who share their wisdom in interactive workshops
  • learn to manage professional staff and volunteer relationships effectively
  • enjoy a powerful network of support
  • have a confidential outlet for their frustrations
  • improve their knowledge and skills through sharing best practices with sector experts

A key component of the Ella programme is the Members Session where members meet confidentially in a workshop-style environment to share and discuss their goals, and to debate the particular challenges they face at their organisations.

The charity sector faces not only financial capital constraints, but also human capital constraints. The Ella Foundation seeks to tackle these human capital constraints, offering a solution where there are few alternatives. Ella seeks to inspire the leaders of charities and social enterprises to achieve their full potential.
